Providing World-Class MRI in Rural West Virginia

"We're the real 'west' of West Virginia," says Radiologist Mark Younis, MD of Jackson General Hospital, located in Ripley, in the rural western part of the state.  "There's only one provider of MRI services in Jackson County, and we're fortunate that provider is Alliance Imaging."

When Dr. Younis joined Jackson General in 2003, the hospital already was an Alliance Imaging mobile MRI customer.  "I already knew Alliance Imaging and the great service they provide from my previous association at another hospital in West Virginia," Dr. Younis recalls.  "So when I came to Jackson General, I was delighted to find that the hospital already worked with Alliance Imaging."

Dr. Younis doesn't hesitate to give the reasons why he was - and is - so pleased with Alliance Imaging.  "They have the highest-caliber technologists in the industry, hands down," he asserts.  "I've seen better throughput from Alliance Imaging technologists than from other techs, and they have some of the best patient skills I've seen in healthcare."   Alliance Imaging's customer service also ranks high for Dr. Younis: "If we have a question or an issue, we get the answers we need, right away."

When Dr. Younis arrived at Jackson General, he decided that the hospital's patients would be better served by changing the two days each week that it received MRI services.  "Alliance Imaging was totally receptive to the change," he recounts, "which significantly reduced wait times for our patients." But with an eye to the future, Dr. Younis hopes to do still more.  "Alliance Imaging is working with us now to see how we can upgrade our magnet and add MR angiography services.  We also hope to shorten our MRI wait time to a maximum of two days.  Alliance Imaging is working with us all the way to help make these plans a reality."

For Dr. Younis and the Jackson General Hospital team, that means they will further improve on the excellent diagnostic services they already provide to their market.  "Without Alliance Imaging, many folks in Jackson County would have to drive at least an hour for MRI services," he says.  "Instead, they have a convenient and reliable resource, right here at home, plus they get the best patient care they can get anywhere."
